Automotive OEM Production Level Controls
A customer was building a demonstration vehicle, but wanted to develop the controls systems with production intent on production-qualified hardware. To do this, the customer needed to navigate the difficult process of modeling, developing and testing the system, including all the potential operating conditions in which it would operate. The customer turned to New Eagle for assistance.
Modeling and testing
New Eagle’s team of engineers began by developing a model of the customer’s actuator in Simulink®. Next, they wrote algorithms to test and run simulations that represented different environmental conditions and manufacturing tolerances of the actuator’s parts. With these environmental and manufacturing tolerance parameters in place, New Eagle made it easy for the customer to create test scripts that easily simulated all the anticipated variations, ensuring the accompanying control algorithms would work across all real-world scenarios.
Speeding up time to development
With New Eagle’s model and parameters, it was easy for the customer to develop and test the control algorithms needed to run the system. When it came time to move from simulation to the hardware, the customer was able to use Raptor’s autocode generation feature to immediately put its Simulink® algorithms on production hardware. This allowed them to skip the process of rewriting algorithms in C/C++. In the end, the customer rapidly developed a demonstration system that met or exceeded OEM production-quality levels.
